This is a 1971 Corvette with a very desirable package of options. It is a 1) convertible, 2) a 454 with the original block, heads, intake, carb, air cleaner, etc. 3) two-tops (hardtop and convertible) , 4) 4-speed Muncie transmission, 5) factory-installed air conditioning complete, 6) tilt and telescopic steering, 7) power steering, and 8) AM/FM radio.
It is very original/correct under the hood as you can see by the pictures--includes rebuilt 544 alternator, original distributor, 287 coil, exhaust manifolds, wiring and relays, recored radiator, rare copper expansion tank and brackets used only on 454 with AC cars, AC compressor with correct brass caps on hose block, idler pulley set-up, power steering with new hoses and rebuilt valve, wiper motor with 5-port pump, "finger-cutter" fan blade that only came on 454 AC cars, etc.
The exhaust is new from the exhaust manifolds back, the brakes have been redone, including the parking brake assembly, the vacuum headlights and wiper door work correctly. Shock absorbers are new. Frame is excellent (nothing but light surface rust)--at some point someone painted it silver and you can see that in the picture of the rear kickup. This was NCCC slalom-raced in the early 1980's, and in the frame rail picture, you can see the repair from when the mandatory roll bar was removed. (See the pic of it on the trailer behind the white 80 at an NCCC event.
The black interior has original seats, seat belts, new Al Knoch carpets, rebuilt shifter, rebuilt AM/FM radio, new correct speakers, jack and handle, jack bucket, soft top frame in good shape (needs fabric replace) and working fiberoptics.
Exterior is white Imron paint from the later 1970's and is about a 5 out of 10. The car was originally white with black vinyl (trim tag
paint code is 972, interior code is 400) Hardtop has black vinyl interior and exterior--exterior vinyl is just okay. Headlights are all original T-3s. All interior and exterior lights work. All emblems are present and original.
This car starts, drives, and brakes, but needs dialing in to make it a more reliable driver. I'm selling because I bought a 71 LS6 convertible and am devoting my time and energy to that car.
This 71 was sold new at Walt Lazar Chevrolet in Detroit, and by 1980 made its way to northern Ohio. I have its history from 1980-up. It has been stored inside at least the past 45 years.
Given the convertible, 4 speed, 454, AC combination this is highly desirable car, and can be enjoyed as is or restored.
